Being a Massachusetts resident comes with its stigma – we love our coffee. Ice coffee in the winter, ice coffee in summer, espresso here, Pumpkin Spice there. The earthy aroma instantly wakes the senses. No matter the brew, decaf or full-bodied, your morning cup can be its own little magic potion.
Now that I’m done sounding like an advertisement, I wanted to share something that has worked for me every morning. Yes, even on rough mornings that I don’t particularly want to punch in to work. You take your average cup of coffee, espresso, decaf, or mushroom coffee could work too. Add a little bit of spice, a whole lot of intention, and you’ll be on your way to a successful day.
Coffee – no pun intended – can ground you. In the 15th Century, coffee beans were found and became popular when people ingested it for its ability to enhance energy, stamina, and focus.
It’s Coffee Time!
You will need:
- ½ tsp – 1 tsp cinnamon
- Sweetener, but not necessary. If you don’t use sugar, no need to add it here. If you choose to use sweetener / sugar, mix it with the cinnamon in a little bowl.
- ** You can also make your own cinnamon sugar like this – with different ratios – ½ Cup of sugar to 2 TBS Cinnamon should do the trick.
- Milk / Non-Dairy as well, if you use it. (You could absolutely make black coffee with this spell. We really just need the cinnamon.)
- Your cup or mug
- A spoon to stir
Set the Intention.
That earthy, bold smell of coffee always grounds me. I love it and always have. When my Mom took me to the grocery store as a young girl, she used to use the in-store grinding machine that was stuck to the wall. I would lean in, nose close to the aluminum-lined bag, and inhale the earth. It was intoxicating.
Your objective here is to incorporate a little magic and self-confidence into your morning. So take a few deep breaths as you prepare your drink. This spell will bring success and productivity to your day, and truly set your focus on positive outcomes.
Pour your coffee.
Into the cup it goes! Watch as the dark liquid fills your vessel of choice. Add your milk here as well. I like to choose a mug that makes me feel happy, too. Perhaps it’s time for you to buy a new one, something out of the ordinary and uniquely you. Aesthetics are always helpful when setting a mood.

Take the cinnamon (and sugar) and sprinkle it into the coffee slowly, imagining something – even something as small as hitting a deadline. You can be specific here, or you can be vague and allow the universe to help you.
Sometimes things come to us that we didn’t even know we needed. A small victory of your boss telling you that you’re doing a good job, or maybe your colleague thanks you for being so supportive. Maybe you find a quarter on the ground on your walk in. Never forget to acknowledge the little things.
Stir with intention.
You will be stirring clockwise to bring in the good energies. (We stir counter-clockwise to banish or remove energies.)
Pick up your spoon and slowly stir. I like to use this incantation I wrote, but you can change it up however you’d like, or say nothing at all and enjoy the moment.
Success, no stress, and happiness
Will come to me today
With harm to none
And good for all
In every single way
So mote it be
That’s it!
Nothin’ to it! Quick for busy mornings, but packs a punch to your energy, especially if you’re still groggy or did not sleep well the night before.
The first time I used this spell – literally when I thought of the incantation – I received a few accolades at work for something I didn’t think would be noticed. In my field of work, it really is nice to be recognized because we’re all so busy and it comes so rarely. I usually rest a couple of crystals around my coffee mug as well to amplify the energies. Amethyst for grounding the Aquarius in me, Citrine for success, and Clear Quartz for clarity and focus.

If you’re feeling skeptical about magic and the unknown, this is also a fantastic way to introduce your mind to it. The more open we are to receiving positivity, the more we see it in our own lives. Be open to improving your self-confidence at work, whether it be at home or in a building. Your success matters. You matter.
Comment if you’ve tried this out. I would love to hear from you if you’ve attempted this and have noticed outcomes. Until then, Buongiorno!
